Zamfara community cries out for help from IGP over threatening their members by the state CP

Communities of Boko Village under Moriki Emirate in Zurmi local government council of Zamfara state have jointly appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to intervene and call the zamfara state commissioner of Police, Shaba Alkali into order over his arrest warrant by accusing their 20 members as armed robbers over the recent uprising between them and District Head of their village.

Speaking to Gamji Reporters Yesterday when our reporter visited the village, a concerned citizen Malam.

Muhammad Dauda Boko said, for over five month now, those people accused by the commissioner were not compotable in staying with their families, stressing that out of the 20 accused persons, three elderly people were in the commissioner’s net since then. He said, the motive behind the commissioner of police accusation was not unconnected with the recent uprising between the community and their district head who was been accused of cheating through in which hr was allegdly seized their farm lands worth over 200 hectares and sold to others.

“When we reported the case to the office of the state deputy governor, commissioner of police, SSS and civil defense, a ministerial committee has been set up by the state government under the chairmanship of Sarkin Fada who double as permanent secretary state ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs but unfortunately, the committee while submitted its report to state government, we discovered that it was unjustifiable because the their report completly backed our district head to continued misruling and cheating us, that was why we said we don’t like him to be as our district head”. Muhammad Dauda further stated.

He also accused Moriki Emirate, Zurmi local government as well as their member at the state house of assembly by politicising the matter to the extent that the state police command had blackmailed them as armed robbers, saying they have no hand what so ever in any criminal activities but peace loving citizens who are fighting their legitimate right.

The community according to Muhammad Dauda are appealing to inspector general of police, Zamfara state government, National Human Right Commission and amnesty internal to come to their aid and salvage them from the hand of the state commissioner of police who suspected them as criminals. Meanwhile,

the state commissioner of police Shaba Alkali when contacted on the matter in an interview with journalists yesterday in his office said, his command is still looking for the 17 persons as suspected armed robbers by the command.

He said, the accused persons were charged by the command with three count charges which includes, criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and causing uprising over the case between them and their district head, as they promised to illuminate him whenever they sighted him in the village. “We discovered that, instead of these people to follow do process on their allegations labeled against their district head, they went to his house and vandalized his two cars, some properties and some part of his house, the action which is contrary of the law to take law into their hands”. The CP contended. The CP further stated that, the command would not fold their arms watching people taken law into their hands and scaled free while urging people in the state to remained law abiding citizens instead of causing trouble.
